Turn in the Road (3 Point Turn)

This excercise is designed to test you on the following areas:
Observation
Car control
Accuracy

The key to this manoeuvre is to keep the car moving slowly using good clutch and brake control whilst steering quickly.

"Turn the car to face the other direction using forward and reverse gears, try not to touch the kerbs"

A. Prepare the car to move forwards, Check all round to ensure it is safe. Don't give a signal.

Move slowly forward whilst steering briskly to the right.

B. When the kerb in front of you vanishes out of view in the front window steer gently to the left to straighten the wheels. Look out the right door window and line up the kerb with the door handle (skoda Fabia).

C. Apply the hand brake, select reverse gear. Check all round to ensure it is safe. Look in direction of travel (behind you!)

Move slowly backwards whilst looking over your left shoulder steer left.
As your bottom crosses the middle of the road look over your right shoulder,
As your knees cross the middle of the road steer gently right to straighten the wheels,

D. Line up the door handle over your right shoulder with the kerb and stop the car. Apply the handbrake.

E. Prepare the car to move forwards. Check all round to ensure it is safe. Look in direction of travel, release the handbrake and steer briskly to the right.

F. Straighten up and drive on.
