Reverse around a corner to the left.
This excercise is designed to test you on the following areas:
The key to this manoeuvre is to keep the car moving slowly using good clutch and brake control.
"Drive past the opening on the left, reverse into the opening for about 3 car lengths, keeping reasonably close to the kerb. "
A. Pull up in a safe place before the target corner.
Drive slowly past the junction looking for:
Shape of the corner.
Obstructions in the new road.
Gradient and Camber of the road.
B. Stop the car 1 foot
(diameter of the steering wheel) from the kerb. 2 car lengths past the
corner. You should be able to see the giveway lines in the middle
Lower the left door mirror if you desire.
Prepare the car to move backwards. Check all round to ensure it is safe. Look in direction of travel (behind you!)
C. When the kerb appears in the quarter light window, Check all round to ensure it is safe. Steer left to follow the kerb around the corner.
Half way round the corner Check all round to ensure it is safe.
D. Look out the back window and
watch for the distant kerb appearing in the middle of the window then
straighten the wheels and follow the kerb, use the bump in the back
window as a guide (Fabia)
Once you are straight Check all round to ensure it is safe.
E. Reverse back slowly 3 or 4 car lengths from the junction. Every car length check all round to ensure it is safe. Look in direction of travel.
