D1 Minibus Training Scotland
Professional D1 Minibus training for business and private individuals
If you need drive a minibus for hire and reward, then you will require D1 entitlment, prior to 1997 D1 entitlement was issued on passing the car test with a restriction code 101 which restricts the holder to driving in a voluntary capacity. If you wish to drive commercially you will need to sit the vocational D1 test to remove the restriction. Post 1997 licence holders are restricted to driving vehicles less than 3.5 tonnes 16 passenger seats on a voluntary basis only.
To obtain D1 entitlement you will need to have a medical and apply for a provisional licence with either category D or D1 on it.
Prior to booking and sitting the practical driving test it is necessary to sit the Hazard perception and theory tests for category D buses.
Please be aware that the grandfather rights for supervising category D1 are no longer valid, the person supervising must have passed the vocational test for buses or minibuses in order to act in a supervisory capacity.
In order to use your vocational licence in a commercail capacity you must complete the driver CPC modules and maintain your drivers qualification card by attending annual training.
